Ikeda Sensei's Guidance
Saturday, January 06, 2007

"As long as we are alive we will experience sufferings. But that does not mean we have to be unhappy. Unhappiness comes from allowing ourselves to be controlled by life's ups and downs - from being defeated, from losing hope, losing courage, losing the will to advance." ~~Daisaku Ikeda~~

Gakkai Song Fiesta 2006

As I've said, I had participated in the Gakkai Song Fiesta on 30 December 2006.

We sang Eagles of a New Beginning, a song composed by me and lyrics written by Kui Bao, a little more than 2 years ago. This song was a dedication from my batch of TPSD students, to our juniors during our graduation. I still have that photo as evidence:

We eventually got it recorded, with the initiation of Liang Ngee our IIC then, Ting Chien on the lead, rhythms and vocals, Liang Ngee's friend Freddy on the drums (he was the one who did the recording), and I think Jeffrey, Ying Jie, and icantrememberwhoelse helped too.

We sent that recording to Ikeda Sensei, with his reply, "Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. Please send my best regards to all of you. "

When GD Mr Ong asked for newly composed Gakkai songs, I submited this song, without the the limit of the skies. I went through ups and downs, worrying about the performance of this song, and its tight deadlines.

Thanks once again to everyone. Thanks to Kui Bao, who willing helped me wrote the lyrics 2 years ago, and continuing to support the perfomance of this song for the GSF.

Thanks to Fabian, who willingly helped to sing and played the lead, although he very much didn't want to play and sing at the same time, and cracked his head when the others weren't on time or weren't there for the practices, as he is always the earliest.

Thanks to Ee Sin, for being willing to play the drums initially, and eventually played the rhythms very well, and sacrificing the CIC outing for the success of our performance.

Thanks to Kenneth and Bryan, for willingly playing the drums and bass respectively for us, despite the fact that you both wern't from TPSD, and you have your own composition too. You both had played wholeheartedly for us, despite it being a competition.

Thanks to Raymond, who so happen was in charge of the GSF, and him being an ex-TPSD student, giving me all the pressure to perform at our tip top condition.

Thanks the Natalie, who handled the GSF as well as Raymond did.

I cause the whole band to make an irrevocable mistake. And there was a "live" recording. I'm not sure how it'll turn out to be. I'm just looking forward to the release of the recording.

I'm also quite regretful that I didn't take any photos although I brought my camera (which is spoiling soon..). But I do received some photos from Johnny and ZhiRhong. Here they are:

That's all. I'll update on my visit to the Singapore Garden Festival next time, when I finished uploading the photos..

Bye Bye Ming Hui...
Friday, January 05, 2007

Today is Ming Hui's last day at work. However, I didn't feel as sad as what I thought I would. Perhaps I didn't know him that long, compared to the rest, as it took me some time before I got warmed up with him as a friend. Perhaps I didn't work together with him as much as the others did. Perhaps didn't know him well, besides knowing that he craps. Perhaps it's me who is the unfeeling one.

Lishuang was saying that if we were to crowd by him longer and talk to him longer, he will surely cry. True. I could see his eyes getting a little red. Jaslin then said that Lishuang looks more like she'll cry than Ming Hui would.

Well, the 3 of them, Ming Hui, Lishuang, and Jaslin, came into SIAEC Finance on the same day, in August 2005. They've been here together for more than a year, getting used to the work here together, making their Airport Passes and Staff IDs together, going for induction courses together, and passing their probation together. And these are some of the things I could list. Others which I couldn't, is because I don't know what else they did together without me knowing.

We all then talked about if we were the one to leave, will we be able to control our tears as much as Ming Hui did? I remembered seeing Aminah crying during her last day. But it seemed like no one dared to comfort her then, as everyone was afraid that it will cause her to cry even more.. Lishuang said that she will definately cry when she leave. Of course. By leaving, we will have to force ourselves to cut off the relationships built from the first day. But I guess I'll start crying from the day I tender my resignation, and there would be no more tears on my last day.

I used to be unable to imagine the day I leave SIAEC. I can't imagine when I left TTSH then too, even though I was there for a month only. But I guess like the Chinese saying, "世上无不散之宴席", everyone have to leave some day. It's just when that is the factor.

So long Ming Hui.. Bye Bye...

By the way, I took some photos and videos of him as we presented him his gift (2nd generation iPod Nano, 2GB, silver colour). But it's getting a long time to upload. Thus here are some, until the rest are uploaded.
